DS3820SMTV is a Mark IV backplane component developed by General Electric. The Mark IV includes four microcomputers that distribute control functions: three are identical control sections, while the fourth handles communications. Powerful online diagnostics pinpoint the exact section that's broken, right down to the replaceable component. The gas turbine is functioning while the panels are being repaired.

The Mark IV control system supports multiple sensor inputs, reducing the number of forced outages caused by defective sensors. The report includes details on how these outcomes were achieved, as well as a description of the first experiences running gas turbines with the new technology.
The values of all the logic, including turbine-mounted switches, internal logic, and output relay status, are displayed on multiple displays. Similarly, all sensor and actuator values can be presented.
