Annunciator Alarm
Alarm Handling: The annunciator can handle up to 60 alarm conditions. These alarms are latching, meaning they persist even if the initial condition is momentary. Operators can clear these alarms using a designated pushbutton on the panel.
Annunciation: When an alarm condition is detected, the annunciator alerts operators through audible and visual signals. This includes activating a bell and causing associated lights to flash, providing a clear and immediate indication of an issue.
Annunciator Components: The system includes "drops" that serve as alarm indicators. The architecture involves an annunciator master card (VANB) and up to 15 annunciator cards (VANA). Each VANA card supports four circuits, accommodating a total of 60 drops, though typically 40 drops are used in a standard system.
Operator Controls:
LAMP TEST: Used to check for burned-out bulbs and ensure that lamp drivers are functioning correctly.
ALARM RESET: Silences the alarm bell and changes the flashing light to a steady state. It also allows another alarm to start flashing if needed.
LAMP RESET: Clears the flashing light once the alarm condition is resolved. An automatic lamp reset feature is also available for convenience.
