TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR GE - IC660BBD021

IC660BBD021 is a Sink I/O Block developed by GE as part of the Mark I and II control systems. This 24/48 VDC Sink I/O block is integral to the Series 90-30 PLCs, designed to interface seamlessly with both electromechanical devices and 3-wire solid-state sensors. It provides essential connectivity and control functions within industrial automation systems, featuring 16 discrete circuits that can be flexibly configured as inputs, tristate inputs, or outputs, making it a versatile tool for various automation applications.

Features

  • This I/O block operates on a 24/48 VDC power supply provided by field output devices, eliminating the need for an additional power source. Each of the 16 discrete circuits can serve different functions, including input, tristate input, or output, enhancing flexibility and functionality in control scenarios.
  • The block offers several configurable parameters, such as output pulse testing, input filter timing, output power-up defaults, and the ability to hold the last state or revert to a default state after power cycles.
  • It includes built-in protection mechanisms, including electronic short circuit and over-temperature protection, as well as fault detection for failed switches, open wires in tristate inputs, and overload or no-load conditions. These features are crucial for preventing damage and ensuring reliable operation.

Installation Requirements and Safety Considerations

  • The block should be housed in a protective case to shield it from airborne contaminants and ensure adequate cooling and airflow.
  • A proper grounding system is essential to prevent electrical issues. The 16 circuits are connected through terminals 6 to 21, used for both inputs and outputs. When configuring a terminal as a tristate input, a resistor should be mounted at the dry contacts of the input device for open wire diagnostics.
  • For maintenance or component replacement, follow proper safety procedures. Always disconnect both block power and circuit power before handling the unit to avoid electrical shock hazards.
  • When replacing an electronic assembly, connect a handheld monitor to the system to monitor circuits from the HMM menu. After monitoring, turn off and disconnect the monitor, power down the block, remove the old assembly, and install the new one. Ensure that terminals are correctly connected to the + or – side of the terminal board based on their intended use as inputs or outputs.
