IC693ALG221 is an Analog Current Input Module developed by GE. It is part of the Fanuc system. The Module designed for use with the Series 90-30 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). This module provides four input channels capable of converting analog current signals into digital data for processing within the PLC system.

Features

  • Analog to Digital Conversion: The module converts analog input signals into digital signals for each of its four channels. This conversion allows the PLC to process and utilize the analog data as needed for various applications.
  • Input Ranges: the default input range for this module is 4 to 20 mA. In this configuration, 4 mA corresponds to a digital count of 0, and 20 mA corresponds to a count of 32,000. Each count increment represents a change of 0.5 mA. By adding a jumper to the I/O terminal board, the input range can be adjusted to 0 to 20 mA.   • Conversion Speed and Resolution: The module offers a conversion speed of 0.5 milliseconds per channel, with an update rate of 2 milliseconds for any of the provided channels. The resolution of the converted signal is 12 bits, providing precise data measurement over either of the chosen input ranges.
  • Data Format: The Percent AI user data registers are in a 16-bit 2's complement format. If the current source is reversed into the input, the module will output a data word that corresponds to the low end of the range.
  • Input Protection and Isolation: The module includes input protection that allows it to handle up to 200 V in common mode settings, although performance may be reduced under these conditions. It also features electrical isolation to minimize the impact of external noise on the signal.
  • Proper field connections should use high-quality twisted, shielded instrumentation cables connected to the COM or GND terminals to ensure signal integrity.
  • Power Supply and Indicators: The module operates on a main power supply of +24 VDC, which is routed through an inverter to power the module. The module also uses power from the +5 VDC output to drive its isolation circuitry. An LED indicator on the module monitors the power supply operation, providing visual feedback on the status of the power supply.
