TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR GE - IS200MVRAH1A

IS200MVRAH1A is an I/O Interface Board developed by GE. It is a part of Mark VIe control system. The MVRA is an I/O (Input/Output) board within the PMVE (Process Management and Vitality Equipment) system. The board communicates with the PMVE system via the high-speed serial link (HSSL). This communication protocol ensures efficient data transfer between the board and other components of the PMVE system, facilitating seamless integration and operation.

FEATURES

Specialized Code and Control Mechanisms: The PMVE system contains specialized software code specifically tailored for the MVRA board. This code governs the communication and control of the analog and digital I/O functionalities. It enables the PMVE system to interact with and manage the MVRA board effectively. Customizable Configuration Parameters: Configuration parameters are available to customize the operation of the MVRA board according to specific requirements and applications. These parameters allow users to tailor the functionality of the board to suit the unique needs of their system, ensuring optimal performance and compatibility. Functional Replacement for Mark V TCQA and IOMA Boards: The board serves as a functional replacement for the Mark V TCQA (Turbine Control Quadruple Analog) and IOMA (Input/Output Multifunction Analog) boards. By incorporating advanced technology and enhanced functionalities, the MVRA board offers improved performance and reliability compared to its predecessors.

ANALOG AND DIGITAL I/O CAPABILITIES

Thermocouples (Simplex): Supports the input of thermocouple signals, providing temperature measurement capabilities. This feature allows the system to monitor temperature variations in critical components or processes, ensuring operational safety and efficiency. Servos and LVDTs: Facilitates the connection of servos (servo motors) and LVDTs (Linear Variable Differential Transformers), enabling precise control and monitoring of mechanical movements and positions. This capability is vital for applications requiring accurate motion control and feedback. Pulse Rates: Capable of measuring and processing pulse rate signals, offering the ability to monitor the frequency or rate of events such as rotations, pulses, or cycles. This functionality is essential for applications involving speed control or event monitoring. Proximeters: Supports proximeter inputs, allowing the system to detect the presence or proximity of objects or materials. Proximeters are commonly used for proximity sensing in industrial applications, such as detecting the position of moving parts or objects. Analog Inputs and Outputs: Provides analog input and output channels, enabling the system to interface with various analog sensors, actuators, and control devices. This capability allows for the monitoring of analog signals and the generation of analog control signals for precise system control. PTR Relays: Supports PTR (Programmable Time Relay) relays, which are used for time-delayed switching or control functions. PTR relays provide flexibility in timing operations, allowing for the implementation of sequential or time-dependent control logic. Bus and Gen Voltage: It can monitor bus and generator voltages, providing essential information about the electrical power distribution and generation systems. This capability enables the system to ensure voltage stability and reliability in power generation and distribution applications. CPD and Megawatt: Facilitates monitoring of CPD (Condensate Pump Discharge) and Megawatt signals, offering insights into critical parameters related to power generation and distribution processes. This capability allows for effective monitoring and control of power plant operations.

INSTALLATION

PRE-INSTALLATION PRECAUTIONS

Power Shutdown: Before beginning the installation process, ensure that power is completely removed from the core system to prevent any electrical hazards or damage to the components.

INSTALLATION STEPS

Disconnect Cables: Carefully detach all ribbon cables and power cables from the connectors on the existing board. Pay attention to the orientation of the cables - the red or blue stripes should always be on the left side. Release Board Tabs: Hold the board in place securely, then press up on the three top and three bottom tabs to release the board from its mounting position. Remove Old Board: Once the tabs are released, gently remove the old board from its mounting location and place it in a static bag to prevent electrostatic discharge. Prepare New MVRA: Take the new board out of its static bag, ensuring proper handling to prevent any damage. Install New Board: Carefully position the new board in the vacant slot, aligning it with the mounting guides or rails. Press down firmly to secure the board in place, ensuring that all tabs click into position. Reconnect Cables: Reattach the ribbon cables and power cables to the corresponding connectors on the new board. Again, ensure that the cables are oriented correctly, with the red or blue stripes on the left side. Connect HSSL Link Cable: Once the board is securely installed, connect the HSSL link cable from the PMVE system to the designated port on the MVRA board. This cable facilitates communication between the PMVE and the board.

POST-INSTALLATION VERIFICATION

Visual Inspection: Double-check all cable connections and ensure that the board is securely mounted in its designated slot. Power Restoration: After confirming proper installation, restore power to the core system and verify that the board initializes correctly.
