TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR GE - IS200TCATH1A

IS200TCATH1A is a core analog terminal board developed by GE. It is a part of Mark VIe control system. The Core Analog terminal board serves as an augmentation to the I/O terminal capacity of the PCAA module. It takes on the responsibility of managing input signals, which are then distributed to either a single PCAA module or three of them. This encompassing functionality involves handling various input types, such as twelve seismic inputs, twelve LVDT inputs, twenty-four 4-20 mA inputs, and two magnetic pulse rate inputs. Ensuring the efficiency of the system, a distinct 24 V dc power source is allocated for all twenty-four 4-20 mA inputs. This power allocation is shared between the TCAT and an adjacent JGPA board, with half of the inputs being managed by each. This strategic power distribution optimizes the utilization of resources.

Features

  • TCAT generates three 4-20 mA voted signals, contributing to the precision of the system's output functionality. To facilitate these connections, the TCAT features a comprehensive array of field wire terminal points, with 120 pluggable Euro-style box terminals ensuring secure connections. Terminal points are organized into three groupings: one set of 48 terminals, another set of 24, and a final set of 48, enhancing the organization and accessibility of the system.
  • Integrated JGPA, situated adjacently to the terminals, supplements the system's capabilities. It provides an additional twelve 24 V dc outputs tailored for 4-20 mA devices, as well as dedicated terminals for shielding wires. The power supply to the JGPA emanates from TCAT connectors P3 or P4, employing a diode-or arrangement that combines power from the connected PCAA modules. This setup ensures reliable power distribution and stability within the system.
  • The terminal board's multifaceted role in the system includes enhancing I/O terminal capacity, managing diverse input signals, and providing a streamlined mechanism for generating output signals. This strategic allocation of power, comprehensive field wire terminal points, and collaboration with the adjacent JGPA board all contribute to the overall efficiency, reliability, and precision of the system's analog functionalities.

Characteristics

  • Twelve seismic, twelve LVDT, twenty four 4-20 mA, and two magnetic pulse rate inputs are available. Each of the twenty-four 4-20 mA inputs has its own 24 V dc power source, with half on TCAT and the other half on an adjacent JGPA board.
  • TCAT outputs are made up of three voted signals ranging from 4 to 20 mA. 120 pluggable Euro-style box terminals provide field wire terminal points. Terminal grouping consists of 48 terminals, 24 terminals, and 48 terminals again. A JGPA board next to the TCAT field terminals adds twelve more 24 V dc outputs for 4-20 mA devices and shield wire terminals.
  • Connector P3 or P4 supplies power to JGPA and acts as a diode-or for power from connected PCAA modules.
  • Terminal board is connected to one or more PCAA modules via pairs of 68-pin cables. PR1 and PR2 are routed to a PCAA that is linked to the R IONet. PS1 and PS2 are connected to a PCAA via the S IONet. PT1 and PT2 connect to a PCAA that is linked to T IONet. On each cable connection, it generates an electronic ID. Cables are always used in pairs, and the electronic ID is used by PCAA to ensure that the correct TCAT cables are in place.

Installation

  • The module is attached to a metal back base via an underlying insulating plastic carrier. Screws are located at the top and bottom of the field terminals, with a third screw in the board's center.

Wiring

  • The TCAT terminal board has 120 Euro-style box terminals that can be plugged in.
  • A JGPA board, which mounts next to the TCAT terminal board, provides 48 shield termination points as well as twelve 24 V dc output terminals for 4-20 mA transmitters.

Operation

  • The module distributes input signals to one or more PCAA modules. To ensure reliability in redundant applications, high reliability passive circuits are used.
  • Board accepts 28 V dc power from PCAA modules that are connected. The power sources are then diode-ored to obtain redundant power input for the 24 V dc outputs. TCAT's 24 V outputs each have their own voltage regulator with thermal shutdown for branch circuit protection.

  • Product Attributes

    Input:

    • Twenty-four signals in the range of 4-20 mA.
    • A total of twelve seismic signals.
    • Twelve LVDT windings are incorporated as inputs.
    • Additionally, two magnetic pulse rate flow signals are accepted.

    Output:

    • Three analog outputs with hardware voting, operating in the 4-20 mA range.
    • A set of twelve outputs, each capable of 24 V dc, with the capacity to handle 25 mA current.
    • An auxiliary set of twelve 24 V dc outputs on the JGPA, also with a 25 mA capacity.

    Power Supply Voltage:

    • A power supply voltage of 28 V dc, with a tolerance of ±5%, is sourced from either one or more PCAA modules.
    • Another power supply source is ±15 V dc, also derived from one or more PCAA modules. Both of these power supply inputs are routed through the cabling linking the PCAA and TCAT components.

    Pulse Rate Input:

    • For proper measurement, the minimum signal strength required is 33 mVpk at a frequency of 2 Hz.
    • Similarly, the minimum signal strength required for accurate measurement at a frequency of 12 kHz is 827 mVpk.
