TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR GE - IS2020LVPSG2A

IS2020LVPSG2A is a Power Supply Board developed by GE. It is a part of Mark VI control system. The power supply is equipped with a single user control, which is the power switch, along with three status LED indicators. The power switch, situated on the front panel, allows users to control the output voltages of the power supply. Additionally, when toggled, it serves as a fault reset mechanism. The LED indicators come in yellow, red, and green, providing information on the status of input power, the presence of faults, and normal operation, respectively.

Features

  • Input Voltage: The power supply operates with a direct current (DC) input voltage of 24 volts.
  • Output Rating: It delivers a total power output of 400 watts, ensuring power supply for various components within the system.
  • +28V PSA Outputs (Quantity: 5): The power supply features five outputs delivering a regulated voltage of +28 volts DC. These outputs are designed to supply power to specific sections or modules within the system, ensuring reliable and consistent power distribution.
  • +28V Remote Outputs (Quantity: 1): In addition to the PSA outputs, there is one remote output delivering a regulated voltage of +28 volts DC. This output can be utilized for powering external devices or components, offering flexibility in system configuration and expansion.
  • PS335 Output: The power supply does not include an output for a voltage rating of 335 volts DC.
  • Status ID Output: The power supply is equipped with a status identification (ID) output, providing feedback or signaling regarding the operational status of the unit. This feature enhances monitoring capabilities and facilitates timely maintenance or troubleshooting.
  • Support Redundant Operation: The power supply is designed to support redundant operation, meaning it is capable of seamlessly switching to a backup power source in case of failure or malfunction. This ensures continuity of power supply and minimizes downtime, critical for systems requiring high reliability and availability.

Installation

  • Mounting: The power supply is affixed to the right-hand side of the VME rack using a sheet metal bracket.
  • Connection Points: The power supply features various connection points:
  • DC Inputs and Outputs: These are located at the bottom of the power supply and include inputs for 28 V DC and outputs for both 28 V DC and 335 V DC.
  • Status Connector: In newer designs, there's a status connector situated at the bottom, providing additional monitoring capabilities. PSA and PSB Connectors: These connectors, positioned at the top of the assembly, interface with a cable harness responsible for delivering power to the VME rack. Power Distribution: The power supply comprises five 28 V DC power modules, each dedicated to supplying a specific section of the VME rack, identified as sections A, B, C, D, E, and F.
  • Peripheral Power Option: The P28C output, also known as PS28, located at the bottom of the power supply, can serve to power an external peripheral device. To enable this functionality, the jumper plug, located on the left side of the rack, must be repositioned from its default "Normal" setting to the "Isolated" position below.
  • Fan Configuration: The fan within the system is only operational when the controller is mounted within the rack. It receives power from the top connector on the bracket, situated on the left side of the rack. This ensures efficient cooling and system performance, particularly during operational use.
