TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR GE - IS230SPRSH1A

IS230SPRSH1A is a Backup Protection I/O Module manufactured and designed by General Electric as part of the Mark VIe Series used in GE Distributed Control Systems. It serves as an interface between I/O Ethernet networks and the input terminal board in control systems. This module offers a robust electrical interface that ensures seamless communication and data exchange between various field devices and the central control system. It consists of two fundamental components: a processor board and an acquisition board, with a specialized focus on analog input functionality.

FEATURES:

  • Analog Input Handling: Optimized to handle analog input signals, making it ideal for applications that require precise monitoring and control of variables such as temperature, pressure, or fluid levels.
  • Expandable Input Capacity: With the capability to manage up to 10 analog inputs, the IS230SPRSH1A offers flexibility and scalability to accommodate diverse industrial needs.
  • Current Loop Input Support: For applications involving current loop inputs, the module simplifies connectivity by locating load termination resistors on the terminal board. Voltage is accurately sensed across these resistors by the module, ensuring the reliability of current loop measurements.
  • Robust Electrical Connectivity: Input to the I/O pack is established through dual RJ-45 Ethernet connectors, providing a dependable and redundant interface for data exchange. This redundancy ensures system reliability, even in the event of connection failure.
  • Efficient Power Supply: It features a three-pin power input, facilitating straight forward and stable power connection. This configuration streamlines power management within the system.
  • Visual Diagnostics: Indicator LEDs are incorporated into the module to provide visual feedback and diagnostics. These LEDs are indispensable for quickly assessing the module's status and performance, allowing for efficient troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • INSTALLATION:

  • Begin by securely mounting your chosen terminal board in the desired location, ensuring it is firmly in place.
  • Insert the I/O pack directly into the terminal board connectors, ensuring a secure connection.
  • For mechanical stability, fasten the I/O pack(s) in place using the threaded studs located next to the Ethernet ports.
  • Depending on your system configuration, connect one or two Ethernet cables to the I/O pack. The I/O pack can operate effectively using either port. In dual connection scenarios, it is standard practice to connect ENET1 to the network associated with the R controller.
  • Power up the I/O pack by plugging in the connector located on the side of the pack. You do not need to remove power from the cable before plugging it in because the I/O pack features inherent soft-start capability. This capability manages the current inrush, ensuring a safe and controlled power application.
  • Utilize the ToolboxST application to configure the I/O pack as required, tailoring its operation to suit your specific needs and application demands.
