The IS200JPDDG1A is a DC Power Distribution Board developed by General Electric (GE) as part of the speedtronic Mark VIe control system. The JPDD (DC Power Distribution and Protection) board plays a critical role in distributing power, isolating circuits, and providing branch circuit protection for control or input/output (I/O) functions that require either 125 V DC or 24 V DC power. It is primarily used for applications involving DC relay and solenoid control power and contact wetting.
Features:
Power Distribution and Isolation: The board efficiently distributes DC power while providing isolation to ensure that power is properly directed to the intended control or I/O functions.
Branch Circuit Protection: The board includes protective measures to prevent damage to circuits during overcurrent situations, ensuring continued functionality.
Output Features: Each output circuit includes:
Fuse: A 0.25 inch by 1.25 inch 15A 250V fuse, ensuring protection against overcurrent scenarios.
Switch: A manual control for interrupting or controlling the power supply to the respective output.
Indicator Lamp: A green lamp that illuminates to indicate the presence of output voltage, offering a visual cue of power availability.
Limitations: The JPDD board is not designed to supply power directly to I/O packs. It focuses solely on distributing power and protecting control or I/O functions requiring specific DC power levels.
Terminal Board Fusing:
JPDAG1: Provides fuses coordinated with system wiring and connectors' ratings for optimal system performance.
JPDAG2 and JPDAG3: Used when fuse ratings matching specific applications are needed. These units can accommodate two different fuse sizes for greater flexibility.
Inputs:
Multiple JPDD boards can be powered from a single Main Power Distribution Module branch circuit. Power input can be 125 V dc, 48 V dc, or 24 V dc nominal.
Two 2-pin Mate-N-Lok connectors are provided for 125 V dc power. One connector receives input power, and the other can be used to distribute 125 V dc power to another JPDD board in a daisy-chain configuration.
Two 4-pin Mate-N-Lok connectors are provided for 24/48 V dc power, which function similarly to the 2-pin connectors, allowing parallel connection of two pin pairs for increased current capacity. Neither side of the DC power input should be grounded.
Outputs:
Six identical output circuits are provided. Each circuit includes:
Two fuses.
A switch with a pair of isolation contacts on each side of the output.
A green lamp that indicates the presence of voltage across the output terminals.
The fuse and switch contact on each side of the DC path allow this board to be used with floating power sources.
Configuration:
The configuration of the JPDD board is straightforward, without the inclusion of jumpers, simplifying the setup process. However, it requires attention to specific configuration elements:
Output Load Switches: The board features six output load switches in place of jumpers. Ensure the switches are correctly positioned to enable the proper distribution of power.
Fuse Ratings: The board accommodates flexibility in fuse ratings, allowing different ratings to be used to create branch circuits with specific requirements. Bussmann ABC series fuses are typically recommended, with ratings ranging from 14 A to 15 A. Fuses rated above 15A should not be used due to potential safety concerns and compatibility issues.
Alternate Fuse Ratings: The board allows the insertion of different fuse ratings if needed for specific branch circuits. This flexibility enables users to tailor the power distribution to their needs while ensuring safety and performance.
Installation
JPDD Installation:
JPDD is held in a plastic holder, which mounts on a vertical DIN rail.
When installing the JPDD, it is important to provide a ground lead from TB1 to the system ground. This creates a ground path for the metal switch bodies.
Power Input: Power input can be 24 V dc, 48 V dc, or 125 V dc, but only one voltage level should be used at any given time. Do not mix voltages.
Cable Destinations: Refer to the circuit diagram for cable destinations. Ensure that TB1 is connected to the system ground.
