IS420PPDAH1B is a System Feedback I/O Pack manufactured by General Electric. It is a part of the Mark VIe Control System. The PPDA (Power Distribution Data Acquisition) I/O pack is designed to interface with and consolidate inputs from multiple power distribution boards within a control system. The I/O pack is capable of accepting inputs from up to six different power distribution boards. These boards are responsible for distributing power throughout the system and monitoring various parameters related to power distribution and control. It performs signal conditioning on the feedback signals received from the power distribution boards. This conditioning ensures that the signals are accurately measured, filtered, and adjusted to provide reliable and consistent readings.
Features
The PPDA I/O pack features a dual redundant Ethernet interface, which serves as the communication link between the power distribution boards and the controllers within the control system. This interface enables seamless data transfer and communication between the PPDA and the controllers, facilitating real-time monitoring and control.
Designed with a plug-and-play concept, making it easy to integrate and configure with the connected power distribution boards. Electronic identification (IDs) are used to determine the specific power distribution boards that are wired This information is then utilized to populate the IONet output, ensuring that the correct feedback from the connected boards is provided.
By utilizing electronic IDs and establishing a structured feedback system, the I/O pack ensures that the correct and relevant feedback data from the power distribution boards is relayed to the controllers. This accurate feedback information plays a crucial role in monitoring the performance, status, and safety of the power distribution system.
Installation
Mount the Terminal Board: Securely mount the desired terminal board in the designated location. Ensure that it is properly aligned and firmly fastened to provide stability.
Connect the I/O Packs: For simplex operation, directly plug one PPDA I/O pack into the terminal board connector. For TMR (Triple Modular Redundant) operation, plug in three I/O packs into their respective terminal board connectors. This connection establishes the link between the power distribution boards and the I/O packs.
Mechanically secure packs using the threaded studs located adjacent to the Ethernet ports. These studs slide into a mounting bracket specific to the terminal board type. Adjust the bracket location to ensure that no right-angle force is applied to the DC-37 pin connector between the pack and the terminal board. This adjustment is typically required only once during the product's lifespan.
Connect Ethernet Cables: Plug in one or two Ethernet cables, depending on the system configuration. The pack can operate over either port. If using dual connections, it is recommended to connect ENET1 to the network associated with the R controller for standard practice.
Apply Power: Apply power to the I/O by plugging in the connector located on the side of the pack. It is not necessary to insert this connector with the power removed from the cable, as it is designed with inherent soft-start capability, which controls current inrush upon power application.
Configure: Depending on the system requirements, configure accordingly. This may involve setting parameters, defining communication protocols, or specifying operational modes. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines and documentation for proper configuration procedures.
Connect Ribbon Cables: Connect the ribbon cables from connector J2 on JPDS or JPDM to daisy chain other core boards. These ribbon cables are responsible for transmitting information to the PPDA, enabling the acquisition and processing of data from the connected power distribution boards.
