TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR GE - IS200STAIH2A

IS200STAIH2A is a Simplex Analog Input Terminal Board manufactured and designed by General Electric as part of the Mark VIe Series used in distributed control systems. The Simplex Analog Input (STAI) terminal board is a small analog input terminal board that attaches to the pack and supports 10 analog inputs and 2 analog outputs. Two-wire, three-wire, four-wire, or transmitters with external power can all be connected to the 10 analog inputs. Two 0-20 mA 0-20 mA jumper-configurable analog outputs are available, with one supporting 0-200 mA current. The board is only offered in simplex form. The terminal blocks are of the high-density Euro-block type. The board is identified to the pack for system diagnostics by an onboard ID chip.

STAI INSTALLATION:

A sheet metal carrier that is mounted on a DIN rail carries the STAI together with a plastic insulator. The STAI plus insulator can alternatively mount to a sheet metal assembly before being fastened directly to a cabinet. There are two different varieties of Euro-block terminal blocks available:

  • A permanently mounted terminal block with 48 terminals is present on STAI 1.
  • A right-angle header on STAI 2 accepts a variety of pluggable terminal blocks that are readily accessible and have a total of 48 terminals.
  • Typically, shielded twisted pair (#18 AWG) wires are utilized. There is an I/O cable shield terminal available next to the terminal blocks.

It is possible to accept the following analog input and output types:

  • Two-wire transmitter with analog input.
  • Three-wire transmitter with analog input.
  • Four-wire transmitter with analog input.
  • An externally powered transmitter with an analog input.
  • Analog input, 5 and 10 volts direct current.
  • 0-20 mA current analog output.
  • Analog output, current of 0-200 mA.

STAI OPERATION:

All of the transmitters have access to 24 V dc power on the terminal board (transducers). With the use of jumpers, current or voltage inputs are selectable. One of the two analog output circuits can be adjusted through a jumper for 4-20 mA or 0-200 mA. Due to the single cable connection, the terminal board cannot be used for TMR applications like TBAI.

STAI DIAGNOSTICS:

  • The output current is shown by the voltage drop across a series resistor on the board. A diagnostic alarm (fault) is generated by the I/O processor if either of the two outputs becomes unhealthy. The I/O controller queries each ID device that each cable connector on the terminal board has to offer.
  • The terminal board serial number, board type, revision number, and the placement of the JR, JS, and JT connectors are all encoded on a read-only chip known as the ID device. A hardware incompatibility fault is produced when the I/O controller reads this chip and runs across a mismatch.

STAI CONFIGURATION:

Jumpers are used to configure the terminal board. Refer to the installation diagram to determine where these jumpers should be placed. The available jumpers are as follows:

  • Current input or voltage input can be chosen using the jumpers J1A through J8A.
  • Whether the return is linked to common or left open is determined by jumpers J1B through J8B.
  • Input current is chosen between 1 mA and 20 mA using the jumpers J9A and J10A.
  • Whether the return is linked to common or left open is determined by jumpers J9B and J10B.
  • Output 1 is adjusted to 20 mA or 200 mA by jumper J0.
